4B OBITUARIES Statesman Journal, Salem, Thursday, September 28, 1994 Death Elsewhere Death Elsewhere Sasha Argov Sasha Argov JERUSALEM Sasha Argov, a recipient of the Israel Prize who helped create modern Israeli music by borrowing from Russian folk, died Wednesday. He was 81. Argov composed his first song a age 4 and went on to write more than 1,200 songs. At age 20, he immigrated tc what is now Israel, where he worked as a bank clerk. In 1988, he won the Israel Prize the country's top honor in litera ture and the arts.

Mr. Remke, the son of William and Charlotte Mawby Remke of Dayton, Ohio began his mechanical engineering career with Hobart Manufacturing in Troy, Ohio. He worked for the General Motors Corporation in their Aeroproducts Division in Vandalia, Ohio and then the Delco Products plant in Dayton where he retired in 1970. Jack spend his retirement years visiting cities in Africa, South America, Australia and the Far East. He leaves one son, Paul Remke of Wellston, Ohio and a daughter, Charlotte Kahl of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, nice great-grandchildren and good friends of the Senior Citizen's of Salem, Oregon.

Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, 8135 N. Dixie Dr. Dayton, Ohio. 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 7, 1995.

She was born in Portland and graduated from Grant High School and Reed College. She and her husband, Emil, owned and operated Ronner Grocery Market in Gervais until their 1968 retirement. Her memberships. included, the Gervais Garden Club and Gervais Home Extension. Her husband died in 1987.

She had lived in Salem since 1992. Survivors include her brother, Bruce Wells of Topsail Beach, N.C. Private interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery, Salem. Arrangements are by Cornwell mortuary, Woodburn. Emma Arletha Price March 12, 1916 Sept.

26, 1995 ALBANY Emma Price, 79, died Tuesday. She was born in Halsey and lived her entire life in Linn County. She had lived in Albany since 1929 and graduated from Albany High School. She was a homemaker. Her memberships included First Christian Church and the Montieth Historical Society.

Her husband, Berryman, died in 1989. Survivors include her son, Berry of Albany; and one grandchild. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Fisher mortuary. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Contributions: Albany General Hospital Foundation or the church. David C. Fish Feb. 29, 1948 Sept. 27, 1995 NEWPORT David C.

Fish, 47, died Wednesday. A native of Portland, he graduated from Newport High School. He was an artist for 28 years and enjoyed sufing and sailing. Survivors include his mother, Loretta Fish of Newport, and sisters, Julia Fish-Rezac of Chicago and Malinda Limbrunner of Newport. At his request, no services will be held.

27, 1995 Chas L. Johnson, 55, of Salem died Wednesday. He was a native of Fairmont, Minn. Survivors include his daughter, Carly S. Taylor of Salem; and brother, William C.

He enjoyed working on his home and flower gardening. Survivors include his wife, Joni; daughters, Lauren and Danielle Epperson, both of Bonney Lake; mother, Linda Epperson of Aurora; father, Ted Epperson of Portland; brother, Eric of Portland; sister, Ellen Epperson of Aurora; and grandmothers, Maxine Stalling and Loretta Reynolds, both of Salem. Born in Tennessee, she attended Merrit Business and Trade School in California and worked as a seamstress and census taker for R.L. Polk. She moved to Lincoln City 13 years ago from Washington. She belonged to the Union 50 Club and participated in senior activities. She enjoyed carpentry and driving steam engine trains.

She married Joseph W. Easton, who is deceased. She then married Fredrick Wiesel; he died in 1954. Survivors include daughter, Hazel Zivney of Lincoln City; one grandchild and one great-grandchild. Services will be 2 p.m.

Vern Leroy Peer Sept. 18, 1912 Sept. 25, 1995 MILLERSBURG Vern Peer, 83, died Monday. He was born and raised in La Grande. During World War II, he served in the Army.

After his discharge, he moved to Albany and started Western Paving and Construction Co. He retired in 1972 and bought a farm in Millersburg. His memberships included American Legion Post No. 10 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. His wife, Mary, died in 1983.

He moved to Lake Oswego this year. Survivors include his four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visiting will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Friday in AAsum mortuary, Albany. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in the mortuary. Interment will be in Willamette Memorial Park, Albany. Contributions: American Heart Association.

Virgie V. Pankratz Hyde July 26, 1906 Sept. 27, 1995 COLTON Virgie V. Hyde, 89, died Wednesday. She was born in Pedee and attended schools there.

She married Herbert Pankratz in 1927. She then moved to Longview, Wash. In 1971, she moved to Colton. Her husband died in 1983. She remarried in 1989, and her second husband died in 1994.

She was a member of the Colton Community Church enjoyed visiting with neighbors friends. and Survivors include her sons, Gary Pankratz of Colton and Milton Pankratz of Camas, 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Bollman mortuary, Dallas. Interment will be in Womer Cemetery, Pedee.

Carl P. King July 9, 1913 Sept. 26, 1995 COLTON Carl P. King, 82, died Tuesday in Molalla. Born in Silverton, he worked as a logger in Hood River, retiring in 1963, and for the state Parks and Recreation Department, retiring in 1977.

He enjoyed sport fishing and the ocean. Survivors include daughter, Eileen Tuinstra of Tillamook; stepson, Richard Jansen of Salem; eight grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. Visiting will be 1 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Jesus 'Jesse' Salinas Oct. 30, 1972 Sept. 23, 1995 STAYTON Jesus Salinas, 22, died Saturday. A Texas native, he grew up in Aumsville. He was an auto mechanic.

He had lived in Stayton for a year. Survivors include his mother, Maria Moralez Salinas of Stayton; father, Justino Salinas of Austin, Texas; grandparents, Pinfilo Salinas of Mexico and Hermelinda Salinas of Amity; brothers, Justino Jr. of McMinnville and Gabriel of Stayton; and sister, Rita Espinoza of Stayton. He worked as a heavy equipment painter for Layton Manufacturing for 14 years before retiring. He enjoyed fishing and gold panning. Survivors include wife, Lola Jean; sisters, Dorothy DeLapp and Mary Elizabeth Cox, both of Salem, and Barbara Monaghan of New Jersey. At his request, services will be held. Private interment will be near Bend.
